GOOD TO KNOW
Frequently asked questions

Absolutely not! We have a wide range of capabilities in the Choir and this is what makes it wonderful! You can be professional musician/singer, a campfire singer or just enjoy music and it’s all perfect. Music tracks are provided so you can practice the songs between rehearsals. You don’t even need to read music, but scores are provided so that you can at least read the lyrics.

We are all busy people and life happens. Don't worry, we don't take attendance.

Pop, folk, rock, a cappella pieces, oldies but goodies, newer hits, jazzy tunes, gospel-sounding numbers, sappy songs that make you cry, French songs (or even "Franglish"!)… the whole range! You may even find yourself loving songs you wouldn't normally choose, because harmonies transform them into something truly beautiful.

There will be opportunities to show your talents through solos. While there are limited solos at concerts, our open-mic nights are the perfect occasion to hear you sing! Rest assured, you certainly do not have to sing a solo if you don't want to. We will never ask you to sing by yourself in front of people if that's not your thing. Remember, CantaMed rehearsals are a brave space: supportive, kind, and non-judgmental. So if you want to give it a try, we strongly encourage you to jump in!

CantaMed is more than a choir; it's a community of women identifying physicians in action. Beyond rehearsals and performances, we bring music into the community through outreach events that connect us with people who may not otherwise have access to live choral music. We sing to build connection, share joy, and support well-being within our group and beyond it. For CantaMed singers, music is not just something we practise; it's something we give!
